* Arrival in Sweden and a Quick Peek at Hokukea (April 26, 2024)

With a long layover in Los Angeles, and then another long layover at London-Heathrow, it took us 30 hrs+ to get to Sweden. But we finally did make it! All of our boxes of boat stuff arrived, and we were lucky enough to get access to a very large cart for moving our boxes to the Scandic Landvetter Hotel, a hotel attached to the Gothenburg airport. The next morning we rented a large Volvo SUV (XC 90) and filled it with 13 of the 14 boxes (the maximum that we could fit!) and drove to Hallberg-Rassy (HR), about 90 minutes from the airport hotel.

Our boat was docked near the storage shed, so we took a little peak at it before we moved the boxes into the shed. As we finished moving the boxes, we were surprised to see our boat being moved to a travel lift! We spoke with HR Harbor Master, and he told us that they were going to briefly lift the boat out of the water to verify that the type of propeller we ordered was actually the one that had been installed (and it was). This provided us with an opportunity to see our boat from several angles.

We ended our visit to Ellös with fish soup for lunch at a quaint little antique shop and restaurant, Fröken Trulls (Miss Trulls).

  1. And you are almost on your way to the sailing part. The pictures are amazing and the Hokukea is so nice and clean and shiny. Waiting on pictures of the inside. So far looks like an amazing first week! ⚓️🍷🦋🌺🦋
