Honolulu to Scotland: A Scenic Route 1 May – 27 May, 2025
We departed Honolulu on 1 May and went to Boston to see Adam’s sister, Karla, and her husband Roger. Adam’s other sister, Julie (from Dallas), joined us there, as did Adam’s stepbrother, Jay and his wife (from New York), and cousin Ted and his fiancé (from London). It was a fun reunion!!! A few days later Adam and I flew to Paris and rendezvoused with our daughter, Anisa, who is in the US Air Force. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed exploring Paris with Anisa. From there we flew to Dublin and checked out the pubs, picturesque neighborhoods, and old churches. On 17 May we flew to Scotland and returned to Largs (one hour west of Glasgow) where our boat was stored over the winter.

Luckily, it was beautiful weather for sidewalk cafes!

Hokukea was returned to the water on 20 May and we drove her .5 miles to a large marine, Largs Yacht Haven. The marina has a good restaurant, chandlery, and many boat services. We stowed and organized our sailing stuff inside and out and were ready to go sailing about 3 days later, but Scotland’s beautiful spring weather took a turn to cold, wet, and windy weather. We stayed put on the boat for several days and continued boat work (e.g., updating electronics, etc.). We are heading out to sea tomorrow to begin exploring more of the west coast of Scotland.

Unfortunately right now we’re getting more wind than we’d like.
