We are sailors from Hawaii who have recently retired.
Our Sabre 34, Hokukea, was a 1982 sloop that was great for cruising in Hawaiian waters.
In planning to go world cruising upon retirement, we decided that a new boat outfitted for ocean sailing (with large water and fuel tanks; watermaker; refrigeration, etc.) would allow us to focus on sailing in comfort and not bog us down with “fixing boat.” We signed a contract for a Hallberg-Rassy 40C–our new Hokukea–in February 2022, and sold our Sabre in April 2023. The new Hokukea launched on May 2, 2024 at the Hallberg-Rassy boatyard in Ellös, Sweden. Our adventure begins from there.
